Message Have you ever seen what you're describing work properly on any other forum? For me, the answer is no because it just takes too much work for people to do, products come out far too fast to keep up and there's no direct gain worth enough to warrant doing it (at least not to the admins).

Greg and Damon (and others) have looked into ways at making things easier but even those have inherent flaws that they can't control just yet. The AutoFAQ section is glorious in that it keeps everything we deemed to be FAQ worthy in one place. It's awesome...but the pictures in the posts are gone pretty quick since everyone hosts things offsite. There have been thoughts of hosting the important photos onsite, but that will take some work and may end up happening at some point. There's just too much going on right now.

Your points, however, are good ones. This place has changed and yeah, people are a bit quick with the "Do a search" posts. That being said, it has gotten better I think compared to a year ago today. It'll never be like 1999 here, not with the way the entire internet and global community is since everyone and their mom can get online and rant/rave. And the BIGGEST thing that people here can do to help is to remember to use TECHNICAL. The main page would be very easy to navigate and mostly free of "Search" posts if people actually used Technical :)
